Season’s First Kadgi / Raw Jackfruit & Chana Gashi / Black Chickpeas Curry With Neer Dosa

Here goes the traditional recipe to prepare chane gashi👇👇

💁👇Ingredients

1/2 cup black chickpeas / Chana
1cup raw jackfruit / Kadgi
1 cup grated coconut
Marble size tamarind
5+7 Bedgi & Guntur dried red chillies
Salt to taste

💁For Seasoning

3 tbsp oil
1 tbsp mustard seeds
1/2 tbsp Fenugreek seeds / methi
2 leaflets of curry leaves

💁👇Method

Soak chickpeas overnight.

Take about half jackfruit peel & cut into slightly 💁 big pcs & add little salt , few drops of oil along with water. In a pressure cooker for only 2 whistle … when pressure comes down… till done 💁don’t overcook jackfruit.

Pressure cook chickpeas until done and takes about 5-6 whistles keep them aside.

💁👇Preparing Masala

Fry dried red chillies. Along with few drops of oil for 2minutes or till fragrant.

Allow them to cool and grind them with grated coconut, tamarind, salt into a fine paste using as much water as required.

Transfer the ground masala, cooked jackfruit & chickpeas along with the stocks used to cook them into pressure cooker and bring it to boil. Add salt and water if required. The consistency of the curry is usually thick. So, do not add
💁excess water.

Once the curry comes to boil, simmer for few minutes until the rawness of the masala goes off and remove off heat.

💁👇Seasoning

Heat oil in a tempering pan, add mustard seeds, methi seeds When they begin to splutter, add in curry leaves and let them sizzle for a few seconds. Add this seasoning to the curry and mix well. Serve the Curry / Chana Gashi hot with a bowl of steaming hot rice /Dosa… 😋🤗
