Channa Dal & Sabudana Payasam/ Madgane

This is a Konkani traditional dessert which is usually made on the ocassion of festives..
Chana Dal Mixed Sabudana Payasam.

šŸ’Ingredients

1 cup Channa Dal / Bengal Gram dal
1/2 cup sabudana
2 tbsp Ghee
10-12 Cashews
1 whole / 2 cups Coconut 🄄 Milk
1 cup Jaggery
1/2 tbsp Cardamom pods Powder/ Crushed
2tbsp maida for thickness purpose
4 cup Water

šŸ’Method

Wash the Sabudana & soak for 2 -3 hour.

In a mixer, grind the 🄄 coconut gratings and extract the šŸ’thick milk & Keep aside.

Grind the coconut 🄄 gratings once again, adding required a little water, to extract the šŸ’thin milk.

In a pan add Ghee roast the cashews on low flame 2-3 mins keep aside.

Take a pan Add little water to jaggery and boil for few seconds once it melts strain and keep aside.

Pressure cook wash channa dal & soaked Sabudana Along with few cashew nuts. by adding 2 -3 cups of water for 3 whistles or till it is soft, but not mushy. Allow the cooker to cool, remove the cooked chana dal and sabudana keep aside.

Transfer cooked Chana dal and sabudana it to a heavy bottom vessel and simmer it over medium heat.Add jaggery syrup to the cooked chana dal.

Then add the maida flour to the thin coconut 🄄 milk and mix it evenly.Then add mixture of maida flour and thin coconut milk.

Boil this stirring continuously give a nice 3 -4 boil finally add the thick coconut 🄄 milk, and
just boil once add cardamom powder.Let it simmer for a couple of minutes .Garnish with few fried cashew nuts and that’s it. Payasam is ready to serve hot or chilled. Your choice..šŸ˜‹
