Very popular Mangalore fish Puli Munchi recipe.. Most tried & tested delicacy from coastal region.

πŸ’πŸ‘‡ Ingredients

7- 8 or 1 kg Mackerel / Bangda medium sized up to ur choice . Wash & Cleaned, cut into 2 piece..

For Masala Paste

10 Byadagi Chillies + 4-5 Short red chillies
1tbsp Coriander seeds
1/4 tbsp Pepper corns
1/2 tbsp Cumin seeds
1/4 tbsp Methi /fenugreek seeds
1/4 tbsp turmeric piece or Power
2 Roughly chopped onions
5-6 Garlic cloves
1/2 inch Ginger
1 medium πŸ‹ size tamarind
2-3 tbsp little fresh grated coconut
1 medium πŸ‹ size tamarind soaked in water

πŸ’πŸ‘‡Other Ingredients

2-3 slit green chillies
Few stick curry leaves
5-6 crushed garlic πŸ§„
1 medium chopped onion
1 Inch chopped ginger
2 tbsp oil
Handfull ✊ of Coriander leaves

πŸ’πŸ‘‡Method

Dry roast without oil, coriander seeds, jeera, pepper corn , methi and keep aside. Dry roast byadagi red chillies seperately.

In a mixer jar add the roasted ingredients, along with tamarind, raw garlic, ginger , onion and only 2 -3 tbsp grated coconut πŸ₯₯ into a fine smooth paste adding required water.

In a pot or pan transfer the masala & required water, gravy consistency. This is semi thick fish curry . Adjust consistency accordingly add salt to taste . Add chopped onions, curry leaves , Ginger, Crushed garlic and green chillies boil well.simmer the gas.Add the fish gently shake the pot πŸ’βŒšβ° clock & anti clockwise, so that masala is well coated on the fish.add chopped coriander leaves. Cook on low to medium flame for 5 mins & off the flame.Cover the pot & let it rest for awhile..Tangy spicy bangda puli munchi is ready to be tasted..Best with boiled rice, as its eaten πŸ’πŸ€—πŸ˜‹Thulunadu πŸ€—πŸ˜‹traditionally…

    We always cater to have authentic sea food whenever we visit mlore….having had the fish delicacies from you did make our day…we actually felt at some point it was better than our regular hotel fish cuisines…normally we avoid spicy stuffs…but these had just the right amount of spices and tasted so well that we wished to have more :D…
    Nonetheless, it was fabulous afternoon lunch and we are very grateful to you for making our day….
